Amongst one of the fastest in Europe, the lift is the Ostankino Tower climbs at a speed of 7 metres a second, ascending 337 metres within 60 seconds.
Visitors are able to view the ascent as seen from the lift shaft on a screen in the lift as they rise.
Once at the top, the 360-degree panoramic view looks over all the key sights of Moscow, from the Kremlin and the architecture of the mid-fifteenth century, to Stalin’s Seven Sisters, VDNKh, and the architecture of the mid-twentieth century, and all the delights in between.
It is from this height, you can experience the illusion of free floating, if you dare to walk out onto the glass flooring to observe the world beneath your feet; this heavy-duty glass is as strong as metal, three-layer armoured (!), and able to withstand up to 3 tonnes, but nonetheless, it’s not for the fainthearted.
Weather permitting, telescopes and binoculars will enable you to see every corner of Moscow for tens of kilometres.
